PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data storage device and a control method therefor that can carry out quick merge processing with the data in a file data block and the latest data in a cache block. SOLUTION: When data written in a file data block is rewritten, after the setting of a cache block, if the cache block does not have enough logical pages to write rewrite data and the number of effective rewrite data written in the cache block is not larger than a predetermined number which is smaller than the number of logical pages of logical blocks, a new logical block is ensured; the effective rewrite data in the cache block is copied into the new logical block; and the new logical block is allocated as a new cache block.
