PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer mounting/removing tool capable of easily performing mounting/removing operations of a retainer. SOLUTION: The retainer mounting/removing tool is for use in a cage retainer 40 in an approximately annular shape to be screw-engaged with a fuel tank in such a state that the whole outside circumferential part of a plate 34 for blocking an opening in the fuel tank 10 is sandwiched in order to fix the plate 34 to the fuel tank 10, and equipped with a first arm member 24A having a first engagement part 28A engaged with a projection 40a formed on the cage retainer 40, a second arm member 24B having a second engagement part 28B engaged with the projection 40a, and a retaining member 22 to hold the first and second arm members 24A, 24B in such a state as being able to change a space of the first and second engagement parts 24A, 28B, whereby if the space of the parts 28A and 28B is changed by a prescribed length, the overall length of the retainer mounting/removing tool 20 is changed by the same amount.
