PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for obtaining a preferable image of an object regardless of a distance. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging section for capturing an image of the object through an optical system; an optical characteristic storing section for storing spatial frequency characteristics of a plurality of optical transfer functions of the optical system; a frequency characteristic calculating section for calculating a spatial frequency characteristic of the captured image; and an optical characteristic identifying section for identifying the optical transfer function having the spatial frequency characteristic corresponding to the spatial frequency characteristic calculated by the frequency characteristic calculating section among a plurality of the optical transfer functions, as the optical transfer function of the optical system.
