PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video/audio output device capable of setting, by user operation, the time to return to an original channel from another channel switched for avoiding viewing of CM, and automatically returning to the original channel after the lapse of the time. SOLUTION: When a commercial message interrupts a television program being viewed at present and a channel key indicating a channel being set at present or a channel switching dedicated key is depressed, when count-down of a timer is not performed, a number of the channel being set at present is stored in a memory and a count value is set to 30 sec. Furthermore, when counting-down is just performed, 30 sec is added to the count value. When the timer is counted down and it is detected that the count value becomes 0, when the channel is switched to another channel, the channel is returned to the original channel corresponding to the number of the channel being set at present stored in the memory.
