PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically give an appropriate filename on the basis of character data recognized from read-out image data. SOLUTION: A character recognition part 7 outputs the corresponding character data by recognizing characters using the image data read out from documents. A storage part 11 stores the recognized character data. When a character string in the character data corresponds to a preset keyword, a name control part 9 determines the type of the document corresponding to the keyword, and also gives and controls a previously set specific name corresponding to the type of the document as a filename related to the character data.
