摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition system for an internal combustion engine which can generate an ignition voltage under a fault condition of a switching section. SOLUTION: A DC-DC converter 15 comprises a boosting transformer 16, a coil energizing transistor 17, an oscillation transistor 21 (the switching section 20), a first energization stopping transistor 31 and so on. An emitter of the coil energizing transistor 17 is connected to a base of the first energization stopping transistor 31 via a current limiting diode 37. This current limiting diode 37 is arranged so that a direction from the coil energizing transistor 17 to the first energization stopping transistor 31 becomes a forward direction thereof. Even if poor connection or an open failure occurs in the oscillation transistor 21, on-off operations of the coil energizing transistor 17 are repeated by the first energization stopping transistor 31.
