An apparatus and a method for displaying a key on an input unit are provided to discriminate used characters from non-used characters when plural characters are allocated to one key. A contact protrusions are placed at a portion of a keypad at which key tops are not placed, and a doom switches are placed at a printing circuit board which faces the contact protrusions. Each key top is divided into a first region and a second regions, and two light sources are divided into a first light source(250) and a second light source(260) and have different kinds of colors on divided sources.
