<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract characteristics when an authentic medium and a false medium are laminated, and to surely discriminate a laminated bill by irradiating a medium with the rays of light from a plurality of light source which generate the rays of light having different wavelengths, and applying filter processing by integrating characteristics appearing in an image based on both the rays of light. <P>SOLUTION: This medium discrimination device is provided with an image acquisition part for acquiring the image of a medium by irradiating the medium with the rays of light having different wavelengths from a plurality of light sources; an image analyzing part for analyzing the characteristics of lamination in each acquired image; a characteristic integration part for creating an image by integrating a plurality of lamination characteristics; a filter processing part for applying filter processing to the image created by the characteristic integration part; a characteristic extraction part for extracting the lamination characteristics from the filtered image; and a decision part for deciding whether or not the medium is a laminated bill based on the extracted lamination characteristics. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
