<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display gray steps, which are distinguishable irrespective of whether grayscale signals are transmitted or R, G, B color signals are transmitted, on a monochrome image reproducing apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A method and device for improving grayscale resolution generated by digital signals in the monochrome image reproducing apparatus (3) can supply the digital signals from an image source (1) to the monochrome image reproducing apparatus (3) through R, G, B channels (2) of n-bit widths.
