PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method wherein simply changing data relating to a battery pack enables it to fit a variety of specifications and also, even if a data processing means with less performance is employed, a remaining battery capacity is efficiently estimated in a short period of time using less reference data. SOLUTION: The method includes the steps of: separating data provided for detecting the remaining battery capacity into the data relating to a unit cell and the data relating to the battery pack itself of the combined cells; calculating necessary data relating to an assembled battery from the both data; furthermore, estimating an increase of temperature from a tentatively determined current value to derive changes of the cell value and the current of a secondary battery from the increase of the temperature; and repetitively compensating, using the derived current value, the previously derived current value.
