<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of efficiently performing an air-conditioning operation by properly estimating a position of a person in an air-conditioned region by using a plurality of human body detection sensors. <P>SOLUTION: Regional characteristics are determined according to results of reactions of the plurality of human body detection sensors to each of the plurality of divided regions, and the plurality of regions are classified into a first region having the regional characteristic that the person stays there for a long time and a second region of the regional characteristic that the person stays there for a time shorter than that of the first region. Further when the presence of a person is detected in the first region according to the results of reactions of the plurality of human body detection sensors, the presence of person is estimated at a time interval shorter than that of the second region, and when the absence of person is detected in the first region, the absence of person is estimated at a time interval longer than that of the second region, thus the time necessary for estimation of presence is determined shorter and the time necessary for estimation of absence is determined longer in the first region in comparison with the second region, and the time necessary for estimating the absence is elongated according to a suction temperature of the indoor machine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
