The invention relates to medicine, in particular to pharmacy. The invention consists in using 2,3,3a,4,5,6,-hexahydro-8-cyclohexyl-1H-pyrazino(3,2,1-j,k) carbazole (tetrindole) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof for producing an anorexigenic medicinal agent for controlling the body mass. Tetrindole was known before as a preparation for treating depressions of different genesis. The tetrindole when used for course treatment, exhibits properties making it possible to control the body mass in terms of the reduction thereof. Said preparation is effective and does not exhibit pronounced side effects. An anorexigenic pharmaceutical composition for controlling the body mass containing the effective quantity of the above-mentioned active component and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier is also disclosed.
