<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent faulty conveyance such as jamming of a sheet or no-feeding thereof in a fixing device by immediately detecting a slip between a fixing roller and the sheet even when the slip occurs. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes the fixing device equipped with: a fixing roller; an endless belt member turning while holding the sheet between the fixing roller and the belt member; and a pressing member pressing the sheet on the fixing roller from the inside of the belt member through the belt member, and also includes: a slip detection means to detect the amount of the slip between the fixing roller and the sheet; a sheet conveyance assist means to assist the conveyance of the sheet held between the fixing roller and the belt member; and a control part to control the operation of the slip detection means and the sheet conveyance assist means. When the amount of variation of a detection value detected by the slip detection means exceeds a reference value set previously, the control part controls the sheet conveyance assist means to operate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
