PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of detecting run-out of paper sheets or the remaining amount of paper sheets at multiple stages, and miniaturized, and an image forming device having the same. SOLUTION: The paper feeder comprises a feeder body 2, a loading stand 11 with paper sheets being loaded on an upper surface thereof, and an elevating/lowering means 30 for elevating/lowering the loading stand 11 with respect to the feeder body 2. After the loading stand 11 is elevated by the elevating/lowering means 30, the paper sheets are separated and fed one by one from the highest one loaded on the loading stand 11 from the predetermined paper feed position. A plurality of detection sensors S1, S2 elevated to the paper feed position side together with the loading stand 11 during the paper feed and markings 61-63 extending in the elevating direction of the loading stand 11 of the feeder body 2 are provided. The detection sensor S1 detects presence/absence of the marking 61, and the detection sensor S2 detects presence/absence of the markings 62, 63. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
