The invention relates to a device and a system or winding a triangular sail, in particular an asymmetric front sail, that comprises: a cable to be mounted between the deck and the mast of a ship; a first means for mounting a lower end of the cable on the deck while allowing the free rotation of said cable relative to the deck; a second means for mounting the upper end of the cable on the mast while allowing the free rotation of said cable relative to the mast; a third means for mounting the sail on the lower end of the cable while allowing the free rotation of said cable relative to the sail; a fourth means for mounting the sail on the upper end of the cable while allowing the free rotation of said cable relative to the sail; at least indirect attachment means for attaching an intermediate portion of the sail hoist on the cable so that the said portion is secured in rotation to the cable. The device is particularly adapted for winding the sail of a spinnaker.
