An apparatus for providing document security and a method thereof are provided to prevent the forgery of a paper document and to enable the secured distribution of the paper document. A document creating unit(200) creates an electronic document corresponding to a paper document for the security of the paper document and stores the electronic document at a document storage unit(220). A document correction unit(210) receives an electronic signature from a person who is authorized to access the document, and a document output unit(230) transmits the electronic document of which identification information is updated to a correction requestor so that the electronic document may be printed in paper; and a document verification unit(240) searches an electronic document corresponding to the identification information of the paper document received from a user terminal.
