PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk storage device capable of realizing effective data error correction for a data error where the total number of data bits changes during reproduction. SOLUTION: In the disk drive including a disk medium 2 having a data recording area constituted of a set of magnetic dots physically separated to be independent, a disk controller 12 includes a means for determining an error indicating a change in total bit number of a data stream recorded in the data recording area by using an error correction code during data reproduction.
