PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for a diesel engine inhibiting temperature drop of an exhaust post-treatment device even during engine no-load operation. SOLUTION: In a diesel engine provided with a variable displacement turbocharger 11, opening of a nozzle vane 14 is controlled to a first opening O<SB>1</SB>set to make pressure in an intake manifold become atmospheric pressure while keeping positive pressure, and a second opening O<SB>2</SB>larger than the first opening, the opening of the nozzle vane is controlled to the second opening O<SB>2</SB>when a detected supercharging condition becomes a first supercharging state under an engine no-load condition, and the opening of the nozzle vane is changed over to the first opening O<SB>1</SB>from the second opening when the supercharging state becomes a second supercharging state from the first supercharging state.
