PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether or not knocking has occurred with high accuracy. SOLUTION: An engine ECU executes a program including the steps (S110) of: calculating a correlation coefficient Ka between vibration waveform of engine and knock waveform model in a predetermined range (1); a step (S114) calculating a correlation coefficient Kb between vibration waveform and knock waveform model in a predetermined range (2) (YES in S112), if the correlation coefficient Ka is larger than the predetermined value (1); and a step (S122, S126) determining whether or not knocking is developing based on the correlation coefficient Kb.
