PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strike for a sliding door which makes possible adjustment of sickle engagement hardware in the opening-and-closing direction of the sliding door, which makes possible adjustment of a clearance dimension, which realizes a secure lock condition, and which improves maintainability. SOLUTION: The strike for the sliding door is provided with a strike box 11, the sickle engagement hardware 13, a decorative plate 15, an adjustment screw 49, and a side bracket 57. The strike box 11 is provided to the vertical frame of an opening in a concaved state, and has a box-shaped concavity 31. A pair of legs 39 are housed in the concavity 31 of the strike box 11, and an engagement part 27 which is cross-linked over the leg 39 is projected from the concavity 31 of the sickle engagement hardware 13. A sickle-access hole 41 fixed to the vertical frame is formed on the decorative plate 15, and the engagement part 27 of the sickle engagement hardware 13 penetrates the sickle-access hole 41 which makes a sickle lock projected from the sliding door enter the concavity 31. Then the operation part 49a of the adjustment screw 49 is exhibited and supported with flexible rotation on the surface of the decorative plate 15, and a drive nut 51 is screwed in the concavity with flexible movement in the axial direction. The side bracket 57 placed between the drive nut 51 and the sickle engagement hardware 13 drives the sickle engagement hardware 13 back and forth in the opening and closing direction of the sliding door by moving up and down in accordance with the movement of the drive nut 51.
