A method for determining whether contents can be usable and an apparatus thereof are provided to determine whether contents provided from the first device are usable in the second device in a network including the first device and the second device using the provided contents. A method for determining whether contents can be usable comprises the following steps. Contents domain information indicates a domain allowing the use of contents provided from the first device. The contents domain information is obtained(610). Device domain information indicates a domain to which the second device belongs from the second device. The device domain information is obtained(620). It is compared that the contents domain information and the device domain information are equal(630). The contents are usable in the second device based on the comparison result(640).
