A digital broadcasting system providing a data relating service and a method thereof are provided to provide the data relating service through a digital multimedia broadcasting EPG and to increase the convenience of a service subscriber by providing detailed information about commodity information and advertiser. A transmission system produces XML-data relating to application based on contents data(220) connected through data(200) link information with the combination of the broadcast channel and program or the broadcast channel or the program. The transmission system assembles the encoded XML-data according to EPG contents by configuring information(210) and a schedule. A terminal receives the encoded XML-data combined with EPG contents configuring information according to the schedule, and indicates data link information through a display device in order to connect to the cooperation company of the service provider, an advertiser site and a WEB/WAP page.
