The invention relates to a method for monitoring a structural component into which at least one structural element body (16) is introduced which linearly extends in the structural component (10). Said method comprises the following steps: passing a signal into the structural component (10) and/or the structural element body (16); tapping a transmitted or reflected signal; and comparing the tapped signal with the signal passed into and/or with a reference signal to make conclusions on the damages to the structural component (10). The invention also relates to a structural shell element (10) which is suitable for carrying out said method.
