A method for diagnosing an automatic vehicle temperature controller is provided to discriminate the malfunction of an automatic temperature controller via a serial data communication network connected to various controllers of a vehicle without using any additional diagnosing equipment. An automatic temperature controller is set in a malfunction diagnosing mode by setting a predetermined combination of setting modes such as set temperature, wind volume, wind direction and room/atmospheric air modes(S10). The automatic temperature controller carries out malfunction diagnosing if two or more control switches of the automatic temperature controller are pressed simultaneously(S20). Operation states of various sensors and an actuator connected to the automatic temperature controller are checked(S30). As malfunction is diagnosed in the third step, a malfunction diagnosing code is output to a display unit(S40).
