PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component that can ensure reliability without using other electronic parts, such as a current fuse, a temperature fuse and for which a measure for heat generation due to excess current is taken to cause less failure in the electronic components, as a measure for a case, when excess current is given to electronic components, such as an electrolytic capacitor. SOLUTION: A capacitor element 1 is housed in a cylindrical case 2, and its opening is fixed by an element-retaining plate 3, using a gas transmission material. A gap is provided to be sealed by a rubber cap 4, and a conduction shielding section 6 is provided between the element retaining plate 3 and the rubber cap 4 in lead terminals 5a and 5b that extend from the capacitor element 1.
