PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article inspection device capable obtaining margin of inspection capacity on operation to the limit of an optimum conveying speed or an inspection capacity. SOLUTION: The article inspection device is provided with: a conveying part 3; a carrying-in sensor 4; a quality data acquisition means acquiring quality data of an inspection object W carried into the conveying part 3 at a standard time elapsed after the detection of carrying-in of the inspection object W into the conveying part 3 by the carrying-in sensor 4; a quality determining means 24 determining the quality of the inspection object W based on the quality data acquired by the quality data acquisition means; a carrying-in interval measurement and storage part 8 measuring and storing the carrying-in interval of the inspection object W detected by the carrying-in sensor 4; and a statistics means 9a calculating a statistics amount for the carrying-in interval within a given range of the carrying-in interval measured and stored by the carrying-in interval measurement and storage part 8.
