PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for atomizing an oily liquid by which the upper-layer oily liquid of a water/oil two liquid layer structure can be atomized without using a diaphragm such as a separation membrane. SOLUTION: In the method of atomizing the oily liquid, the oily liquid is atomized by applying ultrasonic vibration to a water layer in the oily liquid having the water layer and an oily liquid layer separated from the water layer by the difference of the specific gravity. The apparatus 10 for atomizing the oily liquid is provided with a container 11 housing the water layer and the oily liquid layer separated from the water layer and an ultrasonic transducer 12 generating the ultrasonic vibration in the lower part of the water layer and is structured to atomize the oily liquid by applying the ultrasonic vibration to the water layer.
