PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of monitoring an operating temperature, by detecting the infrared rays radiated from a reading means or an A/D conversion means by a first detection means or a second detection means and is capable of reducing the errors in the reading density value of image data in accordance with the operation temperature, according to a detection result. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus is provided with an imaging part S1 for forming an original image on a CCD, reading out image information and outputting the image information as an electrical signal; a thermopile S2 for detecting infrared rays radiated from the imaging part S1; an amplifier S3 for amplifying the electrical signal outputted form the imaging part S1; an A/D converter S4 for converting the electrical signal, amplified by the amplifier S3 from an analog signal into a digital signal; and a data correction part S9 for correcting data, by applying prescribed operation to the output signal converted by the A/D converter S4.
