PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an operability of an operator when setting a slice region in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus. SOLUTION: This MRI apparatus is provided with: an original image generation section 61 for capturing an image for positioning and generating an original image; a first MPR (multiplanar Reconstruction) section setting section 63 for setting a first MPR section orthogonal to the cross section of the original image; a first MPR image generation section 64 in the first MPR section; a second MPR section setting section 65 defining two cross sections including two parallel straight lines set on the fist MPR section respectively and orthogonal to the first MPR section respectively as the two second MPR sections; a second MPR image generation section 66 in the two second MPR sections; an image display control section 69 for controlling the display of the two second MPR images; a slice region setting section 67 setting the slice region based on the respective widths orthogonally to the first MPR section set on the two second MPR sections; and an imaging execution section 68 executing the imaging for use in a diagnosis of a required section according to the slice region.
