摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image encoding method in which interruption of reproduction is blocked without increasing the processing load in decoding. <P>SOLUTION: The moving picture encoding method is a moving picture encoding method of encoding a moving picture by switching between a variable-length encoding scheme for performing adaptive encoding according to a circumferential state and a binary mathematical encoding scheme for performing adaptive encoding according to the circumferential state. A continuous section becoming an object of seamless reproduction is determined, and a moving picture is encoded in each reproduction section wherein a picture at the head in the order of decoding is an in-screen encoded picture by using one of the variable-length encoding scheme and mathematical encoding scheme to generate a moving picture stream.
