PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micro fluid element capable, in principle, of suppressing stagnation or generation of air bubbles in microstructures in fluid passages when liquid samples are delivered in micro passages and chips and implementing various processes accurately and uniformly in micro passages and chips containing micro-structures, its usage, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The micro fluid element is equipped with a space having an inlet port to take in liquid and an outlet port to discharge liquid and polymer filled in the space. The polymer swells with components in the liquid but does not occlude cross-sections of the space when the polymer swells up until it is saturated. When liquid is delivered, the polymer fixed in the space swells and forms a microstructure in the passage. This invention uses micro fluid elements as elements to condense liquid specimens and elements to cause molecular interactions, and discloses methods of using and manufacturing the element.
