PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To express the appearance of an article in which a sheet-shaped object such as cloth or leather is attached to the surface of a base object, with satisfactory texture. SOLUTION: The three-dimensional shape data of the base object 10 are input to a computer as the data of a polygon or Bezier curved surface, and a plurality of sample points Q1 to Q5 are defined on an object surface 11 (a). Normals n1 to n5 are defined at the respective sample point positions, and a pressure parameter P showing the degree of the expansion of the object surface 11 toward the outside and a tension parameter T showing the strength of the surface tension of a sheet-shaped object are set, and a curvature parameters k showing the degree of bending of the object surfaces 11 at respective sample points are calculated (b). Each of the sample points Q1 to Q5 is moved by a moving distance d calculated by d=P-T×k along the normals, so that new sample points QQ1 to QQ5 can be obtained, and a surface 12 including the new sample points QQ1 to QQ5 is defined as the appearance surface of the article to which the sheet-shaped object has been attached (c).
