PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a beam irradiation device and a laser radar capable of forming a scanning domain of laser light into a rectangular shape which is set beforehand. SOLUTION: The laser light is allowed to scan a scanning domain by a mirror 13. Servo light is allowed to scan on the light-receiving surface of a photodetector (PSD 106) by an optical element (mirror 15), turning following rotation of the mirror 13. The mirror 13 is controlled and turned in a first direction and in a second direction so that the scanning domain of the laser light forms a rectangular shape. The photodetector is arranged slantingly, in a direction where distortion of the scanning domain of the servo light on the light-receiving surface generated, when the mirror is turned and controlled in this way, is suppressed.
