PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing mechanism for a water pump bearing superior in sealability for maintaining and improving rotational performance of a bearing, while securing water resistance of the bearing. SOLUTION: This sealing mechanism 14 is used for the water pump bearing having a rotary member (an inner ring) 4 rotatable together with an impeller 2 and a stationary member (an outer ring) 6 maintained in a nonrotatable state by opposing the rotary member, and seals the inside of the bearing from the outside of the bearing. The sealing mechanism has an annular seal body 16 fixed to any one of the rotary member and the stationary member, and an annular slinger 18 arranged on the bearing outer side of the seal body and fixed to any other of the rotary member and the stationary member. The slinger has a base end part 18a fixed to the other member and a tip part 18b uplifted toward one member from the base end part. The seal body is fixed to one member at its base end, and is positioned in a state of partially slidingly contacting its tip (a main lip L1) with the slinger. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
