PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To observe tumor tissue, etc. present in the depth of a living body apart form the inner wall of the body cavity. SOLUTION: The living body observing apparatus 1 comprises an insertion part 2 and an imaging part 17. The insertion part 2 has a narrow distal end part 2a to be inserted into the body of a sample A such as a mammal, and emits a linear laser beam L in the radial direction from the distal end part 2a. The imaging pat 17 is disposed out of the body of the sample A, and photographs the fluorescence generated from the sample A with the laser beam L emitted from the insertion part 2.
