METHOD FOR PRODUCING BORATED ALKALINE EARTH METAL TOLUENE SULFONATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for producing a borated alkaline earth metal toluene sulfonate.

SOLUTION: The method for producing the borated alkaline earth metal toluene sulfonate comprises (a) a step of reacting (i) an oil-soluble alkyltoluene sulfonic acid or an oil-soluble alkaline earth metal toluene sulfonate salt or a mixture thereof with (ii) an alkaline earth metal source, (iii) a boron source existing in a mixture comprising a hydrocarbon solvent and a low-molecular weight alcohol and (iv) over based acids (wherein at least one compound thereof is boric acid) and (b) a step of distilling and removing the hydrocarbon solvent, the low-molecular weight alcohol and produced water from the reaction product by heating a reaction product in the step (a) at a temperature not lower than each distillation temperature of the hydrocarbon solvent, the low-molecular weight alcohol and water produced in the step (a), wherein addition of water from the outside is not carried out in the above steps.
