<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage system, a storage control device, and a data compression method for regulating the compression processing time required for compression of data that prevents deterioration in performance of the storage system. <P>SOLUTION: The storage control device is provided with a statistical information management part managing the throughput value decided, by statistical information of previously compressed file data as a system performance value; a mode-setting part setting either of a system performance priority mode interrupting compression of the file data and placing high priority on system performance, or a compression priority mode placing high priority on compression of the file data, based on comparison between a system performance target value previously set as a target value and the system performance value; and a compression control part compressing the file data, based on the compression mode set by the mode setting part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
