PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet processing unit capable of allowing a corner of a paper sheet to pass through the outer side of a punch hole of the paper sheet when aligning the paper sheet, and preventing the corner of the paper sheet from being hooked to the punch hole, or preventing any edge fold caused thereby and defective alignment of the paper sheets. SOLUTION: The paper sheet processing unit comprises a paper sheet conveying unit for conveying a paper sheet 3' to the predetermined position, and a binder paper alignment unit for aligning the width of the paper sheets 3' and temporarily storing them. The unit has a side jogger 70, and the side jogger 70 includes a side edge truing-up guide 72a and a side edge truing-up reference guide 72b to be operated so as to shift the width side of the paper sheet 3' at the positions opposite to each other across a paper sheet conveying passage, a motor to be driven to fix one guide and shift the other only, and a control unit to control the motor to drive the shifting width of the side edge truing-up guide 72a with respect to the side edge truing-up reference guide 72b while the paper sheet 3' reaches the reference surface.
