SCREENING METHOD UTILIZING NOVEL SUBSTRATE EphA4 FOR ?-SECRETASE

Disclosed is a method for the screening of a compound having an effect on the processing of EphA4 by ?-secretase. The method comprises the following steps (i) to (iv): (i) contacting a first biological composition containing ?-secretase or a biologically active fragment thereof with a second biological composition containing EphA4 in the presence and the absence of each of candidate compounds; (ii) measuring the cleavage of EphA4 in the presence and the absence of each of the candidate compounds; (iii) selecting a candidate compound which has an effect on the cleavage of EphA4 by ?-secretase; and (iv) determining the candidate compound selected in the step (iii) as a compound having an effect on the processing of the EphA4 by ?-secretase.
