<p>The crankshaft has at least one main bearing (28) for connecting the crankshaft to an engine block with its axial edge regions raised relative to its central region and/or at least one connecting rod bearing (14) for connecting the crankshaft to a connecting rod (18). The connecting rod bearing is at least partly configured so that the axial edge regions (24) are raised relative to the central region (26). An independent claim is also included for a connecting rod for connecting a crankshaft to a piston of an internal combustion engine.</p>
