FIELD: physics; measurements. ^ SUBSTANCE: present invention can be used in exploring sea bed resources. The system of exploring sea bed resources comprises a transmitter, capable of transmitting sound waves in the sea and a receiver, capable of receiving the scattered waves. The sound waves are reflected from the boundary surface between sea water and the mixture of gaseous methane and methane hydrate, present in sea water. The system also has an analyser, capable of detecting presence of methane hydrate at the bottom of the sea, directly under the mixture, when the back scattering intensity, depending on the transmitted sound wave and the received scattered wave, are in a preset relationship. The preset relationship is that, the maximum back scattering intensity value ranges from -60 to -30 dB, and the average back scattering intensity ranges from -70 to -50 dB. The back scattering intensity is determined on a grid, obtained through virtual cutting of the above mentioned mixture into circular sections in the depth direction with a preset width, ranging from the sea bed to a preset height. ^ EFFECT: increased accuracy of results obtained from exploring sea bed resources. ^ 4 cl, 15 dwg |
