Apparatus on a spinning preparation machine, (e.g. a draw frame, flat card, combing machine or the like, in particular a double-head draw frame), comprises at least two driven drafting systems 1a, 1b. The drafting comprises having force-transmitting elements 10, 17 connected to at least one motor 2, 3 via couplings 8, 9, 12, 13 for driving drafting rollers of the drafting system. The rotational speed of the motor can be reduced for the engagement and disengagement of the couplings. In this way one drafting system can be shut-down for inspection, maintenance or repair while the other remains running. The couplings may be activated in a pulsed manner for engagement or disengagement, and the pulse times may be variable in dependence on the speed/s of the motor/s. The couplings may be electromechanically, pneumatically or hydraulically operated. |
