<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To steadily obtain high quality images even when forming monochrome images consecutively in great quantity, in an image forming device having the function of forming both a full-color image and a monochrome image. <P>SOLUTION: The color image forming device A has photoreceptor drums 1y, 1m, 1c and 1k serving as image carriers arranged in a straight line, and a transfer material carrying belt 2 which faces the photoreceptor drums 1 and electrostatically attracts a transfer material S and carries the transfer material S while holding it thereon. The color image forming device A is an inline color printer in which development separation takes places in a monochrome color mode. Time to supply toner to a nip between a cleaning blade and the corresponding photoreceptor is determined based upon the degree of the consumption of the corresponding photoreceptor. According to the degree of consumption, an amount of toner to be supplied is altered.
