Building drum for tire belts

The maintenance unit (3, 4) is arranged circumferentially to the equator of drum and enables the adherence on the drum (1) of the belt. Another unit arranged circumferentially and axially on both sides of the equator on the entire drum surface to enable adherence or free gliding on the drum of the belt. The two maintenance units are formed by tire valves opening into the external surface of the drum and alternatively connected to a vacuum inlet or a pipe supplying pressurized air. An independent claim is also included for process of assembling a tire.
