<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a common rail with high durability by providing a compressive residual stress to the inner peripheral surface of a flow passage by a roller burnishing to suppress the advancement of internal fatigue so as to increase an internal fatigue strength. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of through holes are axially formed in the peripheral wall of the flow passage extending in the axial direction in which a high-pressure fuel flows. A pressure receiving seat surface enlargedly opening in the peripheral surface direction so that branch connection bodies having flow passages led to the flow passage are connected continuously with each other is formed in each of the through holes. A pressing seat surface formed at the connection end part of a branch connection body is abutted and engaged with the pressure receiving seat surface to connect the common rail to the branch connection body. The inner peripheral surface of the flow passage is finished by roller burnishing. A roller burnishing device RB is axially pulled relative to the common rail 10, and rotated relative to the common rail for burnishing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
