1,212,113. Coated objects. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 27 May, 1968 [22 June, 1967], No. 25184/68. Heading B2E. Objects of metal, ceramics, glass, plastics or wood are coated by dip- or spray-coating or by an electrostatic coating process using a powdered plastics material with a particle diameter of from 20 to 300Á, wherein the powdered plastics material is a powdered, hydrolysed ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer which before hydrolysis contains ethylene and vinyl acetate in a molar ratio of from 2:1 to 20:1 and which is hydrolysed to a level from 80 to 100%. The dip-coating may be a whirl sintering technique and the spray-coating may be a flame-spraying technique. The copolymers may have an average molecular weight of from 10,000 to 50,000. The substrate may be roughened prior to coating. The metal object may be of steel, copper, brass, bronze, aluminium or its alloys. |
