<p>The method involves selecting a detection mode according to a position of a target object in an image acquired by a video camera with respect to a given referential object, using a control unit. An interest region in another image acquired by the camera, is defined according to the selected mode. A given resolution is applied to the defined interest region, and a target object is detected in the region. A position of the detected target object is calculated with respect to the referential object. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for detecting a target object corresponding to a motor vehicle in an environment using a video camera (2) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions for performing a target object detecting method.</p> |
