The present invention relates to a gauge system for use in the laying of bricks, blocks, or other such constructional components. The gauge system has an elongate member <B>1</B> having a plurality of visible indicia <B>10</B> regularly spaced along a portion of its length. The elongate member is arranged in use in a position in which it extends along a front face of a laid course of bricks or blocks such that said indicia are regularly spaced along at least a portion of the length of the laid course. The system also includes a support means <B>2, 3</B> adapted to support the elongate member <B>1</B> in this position. The indicia of the supported elongate member can be used as a gauge for positioning vertical joints between adjacent bricks or blocks of a course laid on top of a laid course. |
