An image forming apparatus and a signal transmission method are provided to reduce the number of transmission cables transmitting picture signal by converting picture signal to low voltage differential signal and transmitting converted low voltage differential signal. A main controller(110) converts a plurality of picture signals about print data into the respective differential signal, and assembles transformed each differential signal to a plurality of carrier signals. If a plurality of carrier signals is transmitted from the main controller, a print engine part(130) restores the picture signal. A plurality of transmission cables transmits a plurality of carrier signals between the main controller and print engine part.
