PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw press having excellent dewatering performance for sludge and capable of improving treatment capacity for sludge by feeding an inorganic flocculant containing polyferric sulphate to sludge fed into a sludge pressing chamber. SOLUTION: Regarding the screw press 1 where a sludge pressing chamber stored with a screw 5 composed of a screw shaft 7 and a screw vane 6 is formed within a cylindrical screen 4, a plurality of inorganic flocculant feed headers 40 provided with a plurality of ejectors 41 for feeding an inorganic flocculant containing polyferric sulphate are provided in a space with the screw vane 6 in the range of 1/3 to 2/3 from the small diameter side of the screw shaft 7 in the whole length of the screw 5, and in the central region between the inner circumferential face of the cylindrical screen 4 and the outer circumferential face of the screw shaft 7. The inorganic flocculant is periodically fed to the inorganic flocculant feed headers 40 via a plurality of feed ports in a rotary switch valve 38. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
